His
Holiness, Pope John Paul II, declared 1985 as a Jubilee year for the Roman
Catholic Church. He invited the youth of the world to gather in Rome on Palm
Sunday to celebrate their faith. From a simple plea has arisen one of the most
profound movements within the Church. At WYD in Manila over 1 million people
gathered to celebrate The Eucharist. Vast numbers of young people gather
regularly on an international level with other Catholic youth to learn, to
pray, and to celebrate their faith.
World Youth Days are a wonderful
opportunity for a global experience of faith. Traveling as pilgrims affords the
youth the opportunity to discover Catholicism within the context of various
cultures. WYD's are filled with catechesis, prayer, and various service
opportunities. Allow us to be of service, when you are planning your pilgrimage
to WYD's.
